Book - On The Other Side

Following My Therapist’s Sage Advice

As I write my book, I’m purposefully applying the sage advice my therapist gave me four years ago when I voluntarily had seventeen (17) therapy sessions in one month. (Yes, you read that right… 17 therapy sessions in one month, and Yes, that was CrAzY! … I don’t recommend it unless you can drop everything else in your life.)

Before she agreed to my intense healing immersion idea she required that I agree and commit to doing self-care each day (wise, wise lady!) and suggested some ideas:

  • Go on walks
  • Take naps
  • Get a massage
  • Take warm bubble baths
  • Do fun activities with friends
  • Get creative with arts and crafts

Over the past several months as I’ve been putting pen to paper writing my personal healing and forgiveness stories for my book I’ve found at times the writing process can be similar to those intense therapy sessions. Ernest Hemingway summed it perfectly:

There’s nothing to writing. You just sit at a typewriter and bleed.

So, I am making sure to do some self-care each day!

My therapist didn’t say climb trees, but she did say to have fun!

  • I don’t think I tell you often enough how proud I am of you. Seriously... the courage alone to do what you’re doing is monumental. Factor in that you’re still working throughout the process as well as doing all of the self care that you do. I realize that the self care is what allows you to forge ahead but man... it’s just amazing the fortitude that you have. Your news letter is beautiful and perfect. It really feels like you’re talking to “me”. You’re writing and marketing skills are growing by leaps and bounds. I’m not always great at articulating how I feel.... like this doesn’t even cover all of it but I wanted you to know. Love you so much.

    • Awwww Thank you Sweet Lady! I appreciate your love and support so very much! You've helped me in so many ways on this journey - I probably don't tell you thank you and how much I appreciate you often enough!I am grateful to have you in my life. Thank you for being YOU! Love you!!!
