Here’s Why and How to Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude

By julie jacky | 6 Comments

A few weeks back, I connected with a sweet friend over zoom. We shared with each other how we serendipitously landed in our professions through a daisy chain of seemingly insignificant events. She said she’d been following my Facebook biz page and was curious why I spent so much time and energy posting a gratitude meme and message 365 days a year.

I acknowledged it seemed a little CrAzY and may not have a fabulous ROI, especially with the lack of reach because my posts Facebook don’t get shared with many people due to their algorithms but also CrAzY because it’s very time-consuming to:

  • Create 365 different memes.
  • Change the gratitude idea(s) in the text of each message.
  • Schedule posts on Facebook every day of the year.

And she had a great question wondering why in the world I would focus on that when I’m an EFT Practitioner and Money Coach. (Btw, those aren’t her words. She was incredibly sweet and curious about it. It’s me that thinks I am a little CrAzY sometimes!)

Here’s why…

What I understand about gratitude is it’s one of the highest vibrating emotions.

When we pause to take a moment in gratitude, we shift our attention and energy, and when we take several moments to feel that gratitude, we can’t help but feel better. It feels really good to pause, reflect on my day, and find something (there’s at least one little thing each day) that I am grateful for before I go to bed (or any time of the day for that matter). So why not purposefully feel better each day?

Plus, when we are in the energetic vibration of gratitude, we are in a receivership state. Receivership state is when things, people or situations come to you without trying. (Serendipity.)

Remember all those things you’ve wished for and then begged and pleaded the universe to deliver to you? Well…. You’ve probably figured out that begging and pleading don’t work efficiently or effectively to bring you your desires instantaneously no matter how bad you want it. But maybe didn’t understand why it wasn’t working.

Here’s the secret:

You can’t create from a space of lack.

You can only create from a state of abundance. And when you’re in a state of gratitude, you can’t help but feel abundant.

With all of that in mind, I wanted to cultivate the habit of practicing gratitude each day, not just certain times of the year. I do better with reminders and accountability, so I figured what better way to develop the habit than to post publically, every day, and share with others so they can cultivate the practice, too?!

And… If more people started feeling gratitude daily, I think we would create a positive ripple effect on our world, and you and I both know our world needs that!

So, as you can see, for me, it’s worth the time and energy I spend to feel grateful for my day and to share that with you. Would you like to join me in feeling better while cultivating an attitude of gratitude?

Start cultivating an attitude of gratitude with these 3 simple steps:

1. Comment below something you’re feeling grateful for right at this moment.

2. Click to receive notifications on Facebook for my posts so you will be reminded to practice gratitude each day, too.

3. Comment on the gratitude posts something you are grateful for each day.

When you ask yourself what you’re grateful for, your mind will search for something, and often you’ll find more than one thing in which you’re grateful. Taking the extra little action step of typing it out and click post helps you genuinely lean into that feeling of gratitude and cultivate that habit.

I started a daily gratitude journal about 9 months ago – I write down 5 specific things I’m grateful for and then I read them out loud. When I feel in a place of lack it’s nice to have it to read back through and to recognize how much abundance I actually have.
