It’s my Floridaversary! I am celebrating 3 years in Florida and celebrating what’s ahead.
On February 1, 2017, I was laying on the floor with my eye mask covering my eyes while meditating at a Dr. Joe Dispenza Advanced Retreat when I received a message to move to Melbourne, Florida.
I had never heard of Melbourne, Florida before.
I didn’t know where it was on the map.
I didn’t know anyone who lived there.
But I trusted the message and went for it.
Five months later, on July 1, 2017, my son and I safely made it, after traveling 1643+ miles from Minnesota to Melbourne Beach, Florida.
Two days later, I bawled my eyes out as I said, “see you later” to my son when I dropped him off at the airport.
Life has changed significantly since then.
At first, there was a lot of adjusting to do for all the unknowns I found myself in, like:
+ Familiarizing myself with the area around me
+ Making new friends in the area
+ Finding different ways to stay in touch with peeps I used to see regularly
+ Living alone
+ Working from home
+ Understanding the new culture and lifestyle living on a barrier island
My mind had to think in new ways after being programmed all those years for Minnesota seasons.
For example, in the fall in Minnesota, I prepared for winter by getting my car geared up with a snowbrush or warm gear like an extra blanket, gloves, and a scarf. There was no prep needed in Florida.
Since then I’ve adjusted pretty well, have new lifestyle normals, and have had some great experiences while living here.
+ I am totally at peace living alone and have found I am pretty good company. I especially like my sense of humor. I am funny.
+ Instead of raking leaves in the fall, I saw palm tree branches off my small palm tree in front of my home year-round.
+ My body has acclimated to the warm climate. My internal thermostat has shifted to “Floridian” status, and my house thermostat is set at 77 degrees. (Below that socks and a sweatshirt may be required.)
+ I’ve survived two hurricanes (Irma and Dorian).
+ Bananas grow in my backyard.
+ Seeing turtle tracks, momma turtles, nests, and hatchlings on the beach during turtle nesting season excites me every time.
+ It’s cool to get to watch rockets while standing on my beach.
+ I became a “regular” at the Starbucks in Indiatlantic, Florida where I wrote a lot of my book.
+ During Covid-19 I published my spiritual memoir on healing and forgiveness after childhood sexual abuse. It’s titled On the Other Side. I am not a published author!
+ Self-care is a priority. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) aka Tapping, breathwork, and coherence healings are part of my daily life.
+ Makeup is optional.
+ T-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops are my daily attire. Sports bras are the way to go.
+ Following my intuition and guidance and trusting is a must, especially when I don’t know why or how.
+ My coaching business has grown and I’ve recently created a membership program where we use EFT/Tapping together, engage in authentic conversations, and connect together. It makes my heart sing and I am geeky excited about helping others.
+ My hair has grown long and my skin is glowing.
+ I’ve been getting to know my body better and am learning better ways to love and take care of it as I’ve been continuing to heal and let the excess weight go.
+ Gratitude is part of my daily life. I feel very blessed, believe my life is a gift, and am grateful for it and all the experiences that come along with it.
During my fourth year in Florida, I am open to creating more in my life including:
+ Buying a condo on the beach.
+ Dating and falling in love. Yep! I said it. It’s been a looooong-ass time since I’ve dated… and even longer since I’ve been in a significant other relationship. And now I am opening my heart to falling in love with a fabulous man.
+ Making a greater impact in the world through speaking, coaching, sharing my book, and whatever else God has in store for me.
Whooohoooo! Cheers to 3 years in my life and more exciting creations to come!
